The international academic conference sharing semiconductors’ design technology was held in Korea with semiconductor scholars from all over the world. The Institute of Semiconductor Engineers announced that International SoC Design Conference(ISOCC) 2021 was held in Jeju for 4 days from 6th to 9th this month.

Co-hosted by the Institute of Semiconductor Engineers, Intelligent Semiconductor Forum, the event is the 18th session this year. World-class conference Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE)’s Circuit and Systems Society supports this event for its finance. It brought huge attention from the industry and the event will be supported by more than 40 enterprises and research organizations including SAMSUNG, SK hynix, ETRI (Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute), Dbhitek, Synopsys, Cadence.

‘High-end SoC for New Normal’ is the theme of this year and future-intelligent system semiconductor and various semiconductor design engineering were discussed. Total 131 journal articles from 15 countries were presented in 18 sessions. In addition, there were 12 special sessions for extra and 5 tutorial lessons, and a semiconductor design contest.

Due to COVID-19, the conference was held both online and offline, and 500 people from the industry shared their knowledge through the conference.

Semiconductor experts in the Industry-Academy joint sector delivered the keynote speech. Choe, Jin-Hyuk, vice president of Samsung’s memory division, Ju Yang-Song, vice president of SK Hynix, Prof. Manuel Delgado-Restituto (Spanish Council of Scientific Research), UCLA Prof. Asad A. Abidi (World-class great scholar) also joined the conference. Also, a plenary speech was delivered by Synopsys, Cadence, Siemens, companies well known for EDA (Electronic Design Automation) tool.

Prof. Kang-Yoon Lee, from Sungkyunkwan Univ., and also the chairman of the conference, said "I hope this event will continue to be held successfully so the students can expand their knowledge in the non-memory sector and they can become core manpower in the engineering design area.”
