The domestic system semiconductor company, Skaichips CO., LTD, developed remote wireless charging technology using AI for the first time in the world and the company got the spotlight in the industry. The technology is under research for its commercialization in the next year. The technology works in this way: When RF beam from the transmitter reaches IC circuits in IT devices such as smartphones and smartwatches, charging is started.

 

The transmitter(sending side) figures out synchronized IT devices’ location and status of battery automatically and uses 'beam forming' installed in its device to maximize charging speed by controlling its angle and width.

 

Since it is combined with AI, it learns the location of connected devices automatically and sets the most optimized path for its RF beam. With this function, it can track down devices, even for moving ones, such as robot vacuum machines, and starts charging them fast.

 

CEO Lee said, "This technology is one more step forward from the previously developed one, ‘near wireless charging technology’ which is already distributed to the semiconductor companies in the world”. “When the research is complete, we are planning to promote our technology to companies manufacturing IoT sensors or wearable devices", he explained.

 

“In the future, we will develop this technology to a higher level so it can be adopted in multiple areas such as mobile, cars, robots, rails. We will work hard to expand our business to abroad such as China or U.S. We will continue to show creative and innovative products with Skaichip’s RFㆍPowerㆍ AI semiconductor technology” he added.

Wireless charging is already commercialized and it adds convenience to our daily lives. You can just put IT devices such as smartphones on the charger and then fast charging is begun.

 

But there comes a new era of the charging method. You don’t even have to put them on the chargers. Location of IT devices and status of batteries will be checked and charged when they are in a specific space.
